RQRA Reaction to the 2025–2026 Budget – Senior Care: A Budget That Weakens Private Seniors’ Residences
March 26th 2025
QUEBEC CITY, March 25, 2025 /CNW/ – While the Quebec Seniors’ Residences Association (RQRA) thanks the Quebec government for taking the time to evaluate its requests to support seniors with a loss of autonomy who have chosen private seniors’ residences (RPAs) as their home, it fears that the two measures announced in the 2025–2026 budget will be insufficient to prevent resident relocations caused by further closures or by the discontinuation of care services in several RPAs, particularly in outlying regions.
In its 2025–2026 budget, the Quebec government only revised the programs for sprinkler systems and insurance premiums, which falls far short of what is needed to lift RPAs out of the ongoing crisis.
